This is my second wife Lubov Berezovskaya. This photo was taken in Kishinev in 1947. During the war in Hungary I was slightly wounded and met my future wife Lidia Zherdeva in the hospital. In 1946 Lidia and I moved to Kishinev.

I was arrested at the time of the campaign against ‘cosmopolitans’, but I don’t think that I fell victim to this campaign.

Isaac Rozenfain este un bărbat uscăţiv de statură medie cu trăsături fine. El poartă mustăţi şi îşi piaptănă părul peste cap, descoperindu-şi fruntea lată. El poartă ochelari cu sticlă obscură. În timpul discuţiei te priveşte atent, dar din când în când se pare că plonjează în propria-i lume, amintindu-şi de ceva profund personal, şi ne grăbindu-se să-şi împărtăşească propriile gânduri. Ne-am întâlnit cu Isaac în biblioteca municipală evreiască. Isaac e foarte drăguţ, inteligent cu maniere impecabile şi cu un sens al demnităţii bine pronunţat. Totodată, Isaac e o persoană rezervată şi taiciturnă: există subiecte pe care el niciodată nu le va discuta, subiecte pe care le-a etichetat pentru sine ca fiind legate de experienţe triste din viaţa lui. Iată de ce, în timpul discuţiei dumnealui deseori folosea astefel de expresii ca: “nu ştiu”, ori ”nu-mi amintesc”, în special când venea vorba despre politică.
